Rugged Point Marine Provincial Park is located on the eastern shore of Kyuquot Channel, on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, approximately 22 miles (35 km) west of the town of Zeballos.

This remote wilderness area offers magnificent scenery, challenging hiking trail and preserves one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the entire west coast.

Experienced kayakers and ocean paddlers launch from Fair Harbour to set off down Kyuquot Channel to explore the isolated waters of Kyuquot Sound and Rugged Point Provincial Park. Wilderness camping, swimming and fishing are added attractions of the park and the surrounding area. The outer west-facing beaches of Rugged Point Marine Provincial Park have become quite popular for surfing. Visitors planning on surfing can make arrangements for water taxi services from Kyuquot or Zeballos.

Accessible only by boat, the exciting journey presents cruisers with spectacular views of the rugged coastline, the tall and majestic Douglas-fir trees on the point and fabulous sweeping beaches. The beaches on the north side of the Rugged Point peninsula are quiet and well protected, in sharp contrast to the pounding surf along the beaches of the outer coast.

The nearest boat launches are at Fair Harbour and Artlish River. A semi-sheltered anchorage off the beach that faces Kyuquot Sound is a good place for sailboats and other large vessels to anchor.

Kapoose Creek empties into the Pacific Ocean through the park, providing a welcoming supply of fresh water and bathing opportunities for cruisers and hikers. Walk-in wilderness camping is available, otherwise pit toilets are the only facilities provided in the park.

Rugged Point Marine Provincial Park is accessed from the boat launch at Fair Harbour on Tahsis Inlet, or from Kyuquot on North Vancouver Island. Boaters can find temporary anchorage in McLean Cove and Volcanic Cove immediately northeast of the park. If conditions are unsettled in these anchorages, Dixie Cove, five miles to the east, will provide suitable protection.
